Examples of our learning
Below are some examples of the activities and learning in our preschool. All activities are underpinned by the Early Years Foundation Stage and are linked to the topics we are learning about.
Messy play!
Our messy play table always has interesting textures and colours! We encourage children to experience them with their hands and different tools!
Role play activities!
We allow the children to experience and learn about important skills by experiencing them through role play. This includes learning road safety, visiting the doctor or joining reception classes.
Investigations!
Children are encouraged to investigate and explore our resources. They are encouraged to ask questions and make predictions.

ICT
We use ICT within our setting to enhance the children's learning. We use our interactive whiteboards, tablets, microphones and cameras throughout our sessions.
Topic tables
We use resources connected to the topics we are learning about. We went on an Autumn leaf hunt and used our findings for leaf-rubbings, window displays and collages.
Using our senses
We love introducing the children to new experiences. We tried salty, sweet and sour foods and asked the children their preference!
Topic role-play
When learning about our sight, the children pretended to be opticians and we even had a visit from a local lady who uses a guide-dog.
Small world play
The children have access to small world toys such as zoo animals, dolls houses and dinosaurs.
Junk modelling
The children always have access to junk modelling materials in order to make models using lots of different materials.
Adult focused activities
We conduct an adult-focused activity with our children each day where a staff member works one-to-one with each child to learn a new skill.
Group games
We encourage children to take-turns and share by using small group games.
Mark making
We like to make mark making interesting by using cars, trains and different tools.
Planting and growing
We grow plants, vegetables and fruits throughout the year. The children love eating the fruit for their snack!
Letter formation
Before our children leave for reception, we give them plenty of practice forming the letters in their name.
Music area
Our outside music area is always available to the children, including chimes, drums and a large xylophone.
